Laurens County Cancer Association is helping cancer victims
Updated: May 3, 2021
One out of three people will find themselves at some point in their lives, fighting CANCER! That's a large probability to consider. We are here to help!
Hearing that diagnosis for the first time is shocking and life changing. Statistics show that approximately 400 people in Laurens County are diagnosed each year with some form of cancer. Currently our organization is dealing with an average of 150 active cancer patients at any moment in time. This number has remained fairly stable over the last 7 years - since we set up regular office hours to help cancer patients in 2014. On average, about 75 of those active clients come to see us on a monthly basis.
The Cancer Association is staffed by two people. Ann Casey is the Executive Director, and Teresa Bussey is our Front Office Clerk. Both work to give compassionate help to cancer patients who find themselves needing some extra support. We are passionate about what we do and we do it in a compassionate way. Not only do we supply concrete services such as fuel assistance, nutritional assistance, medical equipment, household and personal hygiene products, we also offer a listening ear and a loving attitude as we serve.
